Death of Hollywood's Imagination

MGM Studios just bought the rights to Where's Waldo. The studio plans to make a family action/adventure movie based on the book. That being said, I'm calling this time of death with Hollywood's imagination and creativity. The Hollywood which brought us Casablanca, It's a Wonderful Life, and Citizen Kane is now officially dead. Major Hollywood studios rarely make original movies, opting instead for remakes and movies based on video games, comic books, books, and now puzzles.

  1. ok trying this a second time.

Gonna play devil's advocate for a minute here. I can see where the idea of a man who travels all around the world, getting lost and turning up in weird places with weird people could be a great premise for a movie. I can see where Waldo would be a good inspiration for a writer's muse.

Having said that, Where's Waldo should not be a movie. It is a puzzle book, not a movie! The writers should take the idea of Where's Waldo and getting lost in strange places and create a back stroy around it etc. I have no problem with Hollywood making movies based on books and comics, but when they remake SpiderMan within five years of the first remake then we have issues.
